Outline
The HUFS TESOL Certificate Program aims to help English education professionals learn teaching methods, theories, and practical applications in the field, as well as the evaluation of learning materials, and their review and production. Completion of the program will result in granting of the TESOL professional qualification.
The program is between 18-20 weeks, with 16 weeks completed at HUFS during the regular semester, and the remaining 2-4 weeks are completed either in Korea through a practicum at HUFS or through an internship at foreign education institutions abroad.
The HUFS TESOL Certificate Programs aims to train the best English education experts in this global age. The objectives of this program are to teach various theories of English Education and to build practical application abilities in the field. All classes in the program are taught by international English native-speaking professors and major scholars in the field.
Most intensive short-term domestic programs do not offer enough opportunities to learn a variety of English education application methods due to time limits. To compensate for this shortcoming in the HUFS TESOL Certificate Programs, the lectures such as 'Testing', 'Multimedia & Materials'(Regular TESOL), 'Storytelling'(YL TESOL), etc. will be opened in a timely manner.
These are the discriminative contents from other domestic TESOL Certificate courses. Besides, since international scholars are invited and special lectures are held regularly through the SLDS (Special Lectures from Distinguished Scholars) series, our program provides opportunities that help lay the foundation for English language and teaching expertise.
And if a graduate wishes to continue studying at the graduate level after completing the certificate program, prescribed credits can be admitted at the discretion of the head professor of each department. In addition, if a graduate of the program chooses to enroll in the English Education major of the Graduate School of Education, extra points will be awarded in addition to prescribed credits through the screening process.
Also of note, admitted students will have the opportunity to practice teaching local students abroad through a 4-week internship. This is a very attractive English education option in a specialist course aiming for globalization.
Finally, for students who want to continue studying to acquire a TESOL master's or doctoral degree abroad, the HUFS TESOL Certifificate course will be very beneficial because you can learn a great deal in a short period of time.
